This class is intended for learners to develop effective reading skills through both extensive and intensive reading as well as instruction and advice on how to prepare test texts for groupwork activities.

授業の内容  
Weekly reading targets using graded readers combined with structured reading activities in class. If the class is online then students will be asked to create their own reading materials to use in group-work activities each week.

*Please note, due to ongoing issues with Covid 19, this class will take place via Zoom.
 
授業の方法  
Usually, for a campus based class, students have access to a graded reader library and will be required to read a minimum of 500 pages per semester. Classwork involves the use of a separate reading text which will be used to develop specific reading and discussion skills with students working in groups or pairs to complete various tasks. If the class is conducted online, the class structure will change to student focused learning whereby students are required to provide their own reading materials and prepare class activities for group work under the guidance of the teacher.

A)[15回の授業で2単位の科目] 授業1回あたり合計4時間の事前準備・事後展開学修が目安となります。
B)[15回の授業で1単位の科目]  授業1回あたり合計1時間の事前準備・事後展開学修が目安となります。
C)[8回の授業で1単位の科目(新設のAL科目など)]  授業1回あたり合計4時間の事前準備・事後展開学修が目安となります。

授業1回あたり合計4時間の事前準備・事後展開学修が目安となる。なお、事前学習においては指定された範囲の資料をよく読み、疑問点をピックアップしておいてください。また、事後学習においては、授業内容の重要ポイントを整理し、指定された課題に取り組んでください。

成績評価の方法と観点  
Evaluation will be based on active participation in group-work activities (50%) Completion of set reading pages of graded readers with the submission of reading reports (if the class is campus based). If the class is online, the submission of self prepared reading texts for weekly group work activities (50%)

* Please note: For clarification, an explanation of the criteria for grading will also be provided in the first class of the semester.

埼玉大学単位修得の認定に関する規則に基づき、履修者が授業の到達目標をどれだけ達成したかに応じて以下の通り評価する。
「到達目標を超え、全般的に特に秀でている」 =GP:4 = S
「到達目標を超えており、部分的に秀でている」 =GP:3.5=A+
「到達目標を超えている」 =GP:3 = A
「到達目標に十分達しており、部分的に秀でている」 =GP:2.5=B+
